I ever enjoyed to make custom modifications to all my stuff and share with my friends. Discovering the Xbox world was something incredible that brought me many wonderful and nostalgic moments over the last years. I did create many skins and icons for my emulators and XBMC dashboard few time ago and decided it was time to gather everything together on a very single place. So, Fancy Xbox was born!
I know that some people will not like it, but to install my skins on the way they are available for download will require a very simple hack on all the Xport emulators. But don't panic, we will just remove some undesirable text title from the Game Select screen by "hex editing" the emulator's XBE (executable file). As a alternate solution, if you don't like - or don't want - to hack anything, just download the .INI available in the end of this page and overwrite the same one inside any Xport skin you download. The file is universal for all Xport builds.
It is a pretty simple task. First search for a Hexadecial Editor, there are many available for free on the internet, take the one you like more and get ready to hack! Since my operating system is Mac OS X, I will use in my example the software 0xED. Open the program and make a search for the following HEXADECIMAL value: 4d6f76652053656c. Check the image below to see the result of your search.

Here comes the tricky part... now look out for the text marked in red on the image above. In all Xport emulators this text is very near of the result of your search (that is the text marked in green in the picture). Once you find it, replace with a SINGLE SPACE every SINGLE LETTER of the sentence who says "L Thumb Left/Right For Screenshots". Be careful to not erase any DOTS from the phrase, one bit out of the place and the sky will fall over your head! In my hex editor I do the replacing by selecting one letter at time and pressing the space bar. Check the next image to see the results of the editing.

Done that, save your XBE file, upload to the Xbox and you are ready to start using my skins!
And I think I don't need to say - but saying - ever make backups of everything!

If you don't want to hack your emulators you have two very simple ways to follow. One of them is to still download the my skins as they are now, upload to your Xbox, and reconfigure the position of the ROM LIST on the game selection screen. On the original emulator there is a annoying title there that - in my minimalistic view - is completely useless. This is why I advice to hack the XBE and remove the undesired element. The other method is to download a different SETTING.INI where I did already performed for you the modification mentioned above, and overwrite the same one who is inside every single Xport skin. ATTENTION - This file is intended ONLY FOR XPORT SKINS! |
Installing icons for emulators, applications or even folders in XBMC is a very simple proccess. All you need to do is to rename a PNG or a JPG file to DEFAULT.TBN and place inside the emulator or application folder. To apply an icon to a folder who not contains any applications you should name your file as FOLDER.JPG instead.
Simple answer: the XBMC dashboard caches all icons for applications and folders in your user profile directory. Usually this folder is located inside your E:/APPS/XBMC/USERDATA folder. On newer XBMC builds this directory is also accessible through the PROFILE DATA link in the File Manager. Simple go there, enter the THUMBNAILS folder and erase ANYTHING. Don't fear that, they are just cached information that will be reacreated by the system, refreshing this way all the globally installed icons.
